The corner edges are adorned with subtle golden accents, contributing to the classic Art Deco aesthetic.

Art Deco was a major design movement that flourished between the 1920s and 1940s, characterized by sleek lines, geometric patterns, and a blend of modern and traditional materials. This style was influenced by various artistic movements, including Cubism and Futurism.

The storage tins have hinged lids with rounded corners, which continue the geometric pattern of the sides. This not only creates a cohesive visual effect but also provides a functional seal for the contents.

Bekkers Blikfabriek, officially known as Wed. J. Bekkers & Zoon, was founded in 1824 by Jacobus Bekkers in Dordrecht. It started as a small tin shop with a store, producing and selling household items. The company quickly expanded, employing a number of workers. Between 1840 and 1850, Bekkers introduced the practice of lacquering and painting tins, both for decorative purposes and to protect against rust. By 1845, the company employed 15 people.

By 1875, Bekkers had become the largest tin factory in the Netherlands, with more than 150 employees. At that time, Dordrecht was known as the center of the Dutch tin industry, with several tin factories located in the city.
