Historical Background:
A. Driessen was a prominent Dutch chocolate manufacturer with roots dating back to 1820 in Rotterdam. The cacao for its products was imported from the former colony of Suriname. In 1854, Driessen established a factory in Rotterdam's Rubroek district, later expanding to the Rechter Rottekade.

The company grew to become one of the largest chocolate producers in the Netherlands and was granted the royal warrant in 1871. However, economic crises such as the Great Depression of the 1930s significantly impacted the cocoa market and, ultimately, the factory. In 1935, Driessen was acquired by the Breda-based chocolate factory Kwatta, marking the end of a significant chapter in Dutch chocolate history.

Practical and Decorative:
This tin not only serves as a reminder of Driessen’s rich tradition but also as a practical and decorative piece. It can be used for storage or as a standout item in a vintage collection. Its unique embossing and historical connection make it a remarkable collectible.
