PeDe is an abbreviation for Peter Dienes, a German entrepreneur who opened a factory in Remscheid in 1869. He started producing hand coffee grinders and later expanded into electric grinders. In 1919, the factory was taken over by Dienes' son-in-law, Paul Land, who bought the villa Vredenoord on Breukelsestraatweg 68 in Breukelen, where he also tackled a bankrupt cigar factory. Here, he began manufacturing PeDe coffee grinders, bread slicers, and, yes, bean slicers. This rich history adds an extra layer of value and significance to this vintage bean slicer.
