Background Information:
Pickwick is a tea brand from Douwe Egberts, introduced in 1937. Before that, since 1753, Douwe Egberts had sold unbranded tea from their store in Joure. The name 'Pickwick' was inspired by the book The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club by Charles Dickens, a suggestion made by the wife of the company's then-director.

Douwe Egberts was founded in 1753 by Egbert Douwes and his wife Akke Thysses in Joure, initially as a store selling colonial goods. Their product range included items that 'belonged to the pleasures of daily life,' such as groceries and chocolate. After their son Douwe Egberts took over in 1780, the business expanded its focus to coffee, tea, and tobacco.

Following World War II, Douwe Egberts continued to grow, with international expansion into France, Spain, Denmark, and Belgium starting in 1948.

This vintage tea tin is not only a practical storage item but also a beautiful piece of Douwe Egberts and Pickwick history, making it ideal for collectors and fans of nostalgic décor.
