Background of De Ruijter
Founded by Cornelis Rutgerus De Ruijter in 1860 in Baarn, the Netherlands, De Ruijter started as a confectionery specializing in birth "muisjes" (sugar-coated aniseed). De Ruijter's craftsmanship in making "muisjes" led to the establishment of a factory in Baarn in 1928, where production later expanded to include aniseed blocks, fruit sprinkles, chocolate flakes, and chocolate sprinkles.
In 1983, the company was acquired by CSM and expanded its portfolio with Zwaardemaker and Venz. After being sold to Heinz in 2001 and relocating to Utrecht in 2007, De Ruijter is now part of the Kraft Heinz Company, following its merger with Kraft Foods in 2015.
This tin is not only a collector's item but also a tangible reminder of De Ruijter's rich history and tradition.
