Product Description:
This vintage tin from the Belgian cookie manufacturer De Beukelaer, produced between 1960 and 1979, is a beautiful example of the craftsmanship and aesthetics of that era. The rectangular tin features a detachable domed lid. The lid depicts a tree representing the four seasons, surrounded by a blue sky with white clouds and finished with a red decorative border. On top is the iconic "De Beukelaer" logo.

Decoration and Design:
The sides of the tin are adorned with scenes depicting the four seasons, situated around a field and a farm:

• Spring: A farmer’s wife sows seeds while the trees bloom. Tulips blossom, and white swans swim in the canal.
• Summer: The field is full of grain, some of it already harvested and bound. A farmer rests after a long day of work, while the farmer’s wife walks down the path with a basket.
• Autumn: Two farmers prepare the field for winter as the trees lose their leaves.
• Winter: The field is covered with snow, and the canal is frozen. People are ice skating and building a snowman, while cookies are being baked in the farmhouse.

The tin stands on four subtle, rounded legs that are integrated into the bottom.

Historical Background of De Beukelaer:

The De Beukelaer cookie factory was founded around 1885 and quickly became a well-known brand in Antwerp. In addition to cookies, Edward Jacobus De Beukelaer also produced chocolate bars, often accompanied by collectable cards, which were popular at the time. In 1963, the factory moved to Herentals, and during the 1960s, De Beukelaer merged with Parein to form General Biscuits, which was later acquired by the French Lu group. Today, De Beukelaer is part of Mondelez International.
