Vintage Champ Clark Cigar Tin with Jan Steen’s "The Marriage of Tobias and Sarah" – 1960-1970

  • Manufacturer: Champ Clark / Verblifa
  • Manufacturing Date: 1960 - 1970

Product Description:
This rectangular cigar tin, manufactured by Champ Clark in collaboration with Verblifa between the 1960s and 1970s, is an authentic example of vintage cigar packaging. The tin features a hinged lid, enhancing both the functionality and aesthetics of the design.

The decoration on the tin showcases a brown wood-look print with gold-coloured details, giving it a refined appearance. This print is designed to imitate a wooden texture, though it is a surface print on the tin.

The lid is adorned with an image of the painting "The Marriage of Tobias and Sarah," painted by Jan Steen in 1667. This painting is a representative example of 17th-century Dutch Baroque art, depicting a lively and chaotic wedding scene filled with detail and characteristic humour. Steen, known for his sharp and often satirical portrayal of human interactions, offers a contemporary interpretation of the biblical story from the Book of Tobit with this work.
