Product Description:

This vintage HaKa cocoa tin, produced by the Coöperative Groothandelsvereeniging "De Handelskamer" in Rotterdam between 1935 and 1960, is an excellent example of historic packaging art.

The design is characterized by a black and yellow colour scheme and a logo featuring the letters 'haka' and 'cacao' within a diamond-shaped square. Additionally, the tin displays the text 'Coöperatieve Groothandelsvereeniging "De Handelskamer" Rotterdam' and an illustration of a cocoa pod on the front. The back features the text ‘Het coöperatieve merk,’ emphasizing the cooperative nature of the product.

The tin’s lid has a sharp edge and is secured with a pin hinge. The extra profile rim provides additional strength, while the folded edge and inward crimped bottom contribute to the tin's durability and finish. The bottom displays the text "Extra Kwaliteit" and "Netto ½ Kg." The back of the tin is marked with Wed. J. Bekkers & Zoon Dordrecht (Holland).

Dimensions:
The tin has a square shape, with a height of 15.5 cm and both length and width measuring 9 cm.

Condition:
The tin is in good vintage condition, showing normal signs of use and wear typical for an object of its age. These marks highlight the authentic charm and history of the product.

The Coöperatieve Groothandelsvereeniging "De Handelskamer" was founded on September 26, 1914. Its purpose was to provide workers with high-quality food at reasonable prices. Retail cooperatives could join regardless of their political or religious beliefs. HaKa supplied dozens of cooperatives throughout the Netherlands, offering both purchased and self-produced goods, such as bread, coffee, tea, and other groceries. In addition to its headquarters in Rotterdam, there was also a factory complex in Jutphaas. In 1947, "De Handelskamer" merged with the Coöperative Association Centrale der Nederlandse Verbruikscoöperaties, better known as Co-op Nederland.

This tin is not only a practical item from the past but also a valuable collectable with a rich history.
