Background Information:
Tjoklat was a Dutch brand established in 1925 as Holland(sch)-Zwitsersche Chocoladefabriek Amsterdam. After World War II, the factory gained recognition under the Tjoklat brand. In 1950, the name was changed to Tjoklat-Fabriek NV Amsterdam, and Bakelite boxes were replaced by embossed tin boxes. In 1972, the company was transformed into a private limited company and renamed Tjoklat B.V. Following its acquisition by Meneba in 1974 and the closure of the factory in 1977, production was relocated to Vlaardingen. The Tjoklat brand name is still used by Baronie-De Heer, which acquired the factory in 1984.

This tin box is a valuable piece of history from the heyday of the Tjoklat brand and an authentic example of vintage advertising art.
