This takeover marked the establishment of the first store under the name Albert Heijn. Although the official transfer took place on May 1, 1887, the festive transfer was celebrated on May 27, the wedding day of Albert Heijn and Neeltje de Ridder. This date is considered the beginning of the store with the Albert Heijn brand, as confirmed by archival research by De Jager.
