He was born on August 23, 1927, in Utrecht, Netherlands, and began his career as an illustrator and graphic designer. Bruna became especially renowned for his simple yet captivating illustrations, characterized by thick lines and bright colors.

The creation of Miffy in 1955 marked the beginning of a beloved series of children's books translated into numerous languages and captivating generations of young readers worldwide. Miffy, a small white rabbit with distinctive black outlines, became a lasting symbol of childlike innocence and curiosity.
