Kanis & Gunnink: A Dutch Coffee Story

In 1880, Hendrik Kanis opened a store specializing in oriental goods in Kampen. Frans Gunnink soon joined the team, and in 1885, the firm Kanis & Gunnink was established. Despite challenges, the company continued to grow and was renamed N.V. Stoomkoffiebranderij en Theehandel Kanis en Gunnink in 1923. The product range expanded to include tea in 1920. Although the factory in Kampen closed its doors in 2001, Kanis & Gunnink remains a tangible reminder of a rich coffee history in the Netherlands.
