Background Information:
The history of Co-op began in the late nineteenth century when factory workers opposed unfair wages, high prices, and poor food quality. They joined forces and established cooperative shops, where members could buy high-quality groceries at fair prices. These initiatives spread and resulted in the rise of regional cooperatives.

Over the years, local cooperatives joined forces to stand stronger against the emergence of large retail companies. In this time of change, they aimed for unity, ultimately leading to the establishment of Coop Nederland. Despite these efforts, cooperation proved to be too late, and in 1973, Coop Nederland lost the battle, with stores and production facilities transitioning to competitors."
