"Tupperware: From Wonderbowl to Home Demonstrations - The Story of Innovation and Personal Connection"
In 1944, Earl Tupper laid the foundation for the "Tupperware Plastics Company." This American chemist, hailing from DuPont, was a trailblazer in the use of polyethene for household applications. Two years later, Mr. Tupper introduced his groundbreaking "Wonderbowl" – a true marvel with a revolutionary airtight seal. This bowl was not only much lighter but also sturdier than traditional glass and ceramic alternatives.
In the early years, Tupperware products were available in department stores, hardware stores, and various retail outlets. However, this distribution method did not fully showcase the exceptional quality of Tupperware products. After all, no one took the time to personally show and explain the benefits of these airtight and watertight bowls to consumers.
In 1948, Vice President Brownie Wise introduced the Tupperware Home Party, an entirely new approach to bringing the products directly to the consumer. This allowed the numerous possibilities of the products to be demonstrated in a personal manner. The Tupperware Home Party not only highlighted the quality of the products but also created a unique experience where consumers could discover and appreciate the innovative features of Tupperware.
