"Curver Benelux BV: The Plastic Visionaries Shaping the Future"
Curver Benelux BV, a well-known name in the world of plastic household goods, has its origins in the Netherlands. This company, which sells its products both within Europe and beyond, has undergone a remarkable journey since its humble beginnings as a small family business in 1949. In 2015, Curver even became an integral part of the largest producer of plastic goods in Europe.
The fascinating story began in May 1949 when two brothers-in-law, Pierre Curtius and Ad Verschuren, embarked on their entrepreneurial journey in Tilburg, where they were producing glass tubing for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. They chose the name Curver, a clever fusion of their last names. Three years later, the company moved to the nearby town of Rijen.
The turning point came in 1954 when Curver started manufacturing plastic caps for their glass tubing. At that time, many still viewed the use of plastic with scepticism, clinging to traditional materials like wood, metal, and glass for their reliability. However, Curver was one of the pioneers who recognized the potential of plastic and evolved into a leading innovator in this field.
