This beautiful round tin was crafted by Numan's Tin Factories in Amsterdam and dates back to the period between 1960 and 1969. It exudes the timeless beauty of the Art Deco style, with its black base and striking red, white, and gold details. But what truly makes this coffee tin unique is the stunning image of a coffee-pouring woman in Frisian traditional attire, gracing the tin three times. "Concise History and Development of Douwe Egberts: Coffee, Tea, and Daily Pleasures"
"Douwe Egberts (or DE) is a Dutch company that has been processing and trading coffee, tea, and other groceries since 1753. The history begins with Egbert Douwes and his wife Akke Thysses, who opened a 'store in colonial goods' in Joure in 1753. They sold a range of products, including groceries, chocolate, and dried fruits.
In 1780, the business passed to their son Egbert Douwes Jr. (1755-1806) and his wife Ymke Jacobs Visser, resulting in the name being reversed. Under their leadership, DE specialized in the processing of coffee, tea, and tobacco. The company grew steadily and expanded beyond Joure.
In 1919, DE opened a second location in Utrecht due to its central location in the Netherlands, where it remains headquartered to this day. Additionally, DE was involved in planting the Haulsterbossen for matchstick production.
After World War II, DE began expanding internationally, with branches in France, Spain, Denmark, and, from 1948, in Belgium.
In the Netherlands, many DE users collect value points on the packaging for purchases at Blokker stores. Until October 25, 2014, these products were also sold in DE's own stores."
