Curver Benelux BV, a well-known name in the world of plastic household items, has its origins in the Netherlands. This company, which sells its products both in Europe and beyond, started as a small family business in 1949 and quickly became a pioneer in the use of plastics in everyday products. In 2015, Curver became part of the largest producer of plastic articles in Europe.
The adventure began in May 1949 when brothers-in-law Pierre Curtius and Ad Verschuren started producing glass tubing for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries in Tilburg. They chose the name Curver, a combination of their surnames. Three years later, the company relocated to nearby Rijen.
From 1954 onwards, Curver started making plastic caps for their glass tubing. At that time, many companies were still skeptical about the use of plastics. People emphasized the reliability of traditional materials such as wood, metal, and glass. However, Curver was one of the first enterprises to recognize the possibilities of plastic and developed into a trendsetter in this field.
