Behind this extraordinary piece lies a fascinating story. Arie Hooimeijer, once a humble baker in Rotterdam-Zuid, possessed an entrepreneurial spirit that led him to success. "From Humble Baker to Biscuit Pioneer: The Heritage of Hooimeijer Biscuits"

At the beginning of the 20th century, Arie Hooimeijer built his first factory in Rotterdam-Zuid. However, it was only in 1934, when he relocated his business to Barendrecht, that his true success story began. The biscuit factory became a true family business, with Arie focusing on production while his son Joost emerged as a brilliant marketing strategist. Under his leadership, Hooimeijer introduced savings campaigns with albums as early as the 1940s, with the album featuring collectable cards of ocean liners being a big hit. The result? Unprecedented popularity and a significant increase in the consumption of Hooimeijer biscuits.

From his initial challenge of being asked to bake 10,000 biscuits for a local grocer to the transformation from a simple baker to an industrial baker. First, with a modest factory in Rotterdam-Zuid and later, in 1934, with the establishment of an advanced mechanized biscuit factory in Barendrecht, Hooimeijer became a household name last century.

During its heyday, the Hooimeijer biscuit factory in Barendrecht produced an impressive 65,000 biscuits per hour.
