Brabantia's Batique Decor Hot Plate: Keep Your Dishes Warm in Style

  • Manufacturer: Brabantia Home Steel
  • Manufacturing Date: 1970s

Description
A hot plate, also known as a rechaud, is an essential item when it comes to keeping dishes of delicious food warm. Brabantia, a well-known brand in household products, introduced this rechaud in the 1970s, featuring the beautiful Batique decor. The Batique decor consists of a motif of roses in various shades of brown.

The concept of a rechaud is simple yet effective: it provides the ability to place a pan, plate, or dish above a heat source to keep the food warm. The distinctive aspect of a rechaud is that the heat source is often sufficient to keep dishes warm but is not suitable for reheating cold dishes. The use of rechauds is especially popular in household settings, where these rechauds with tealights are most commonly used.

Condition
This Brabantia rechaud, featuring the beautiful Batique decor, is a vintage item that bears signs of use and age-related wear. The photos clearly depict the current condition of the product.

Dimensions
With its height of 7 cm, length of 34 cm, and width of 15 cm, this rechaud has the perfect dimensions for keeping dishes warm.

Brabantia: A Heritage of Quality and Sustainability

Brabantia, founded in 1919 in Aalst, the Netherlands, is a renowned company that manufactures metal and plastic household products. What began as a modest metalware company with 15 employees under the name Van Elderen & Co has grown into an internationally recognized brand. Although the headquarters are now located in Valkenswaard, North Brabant, production no longer takes place in the Netherlands.

Brabantia's original focus was on supplying metalware to the agricultural and cigar industries. They produced items such as milk sieves, buckets, funnels, watering cans, and cigar tins. The company grew steadily and opened a sales organization in Belgium in 1948. In 1957, a factory was established in Valkenswaard, followed by a factory in Overpelt in 1963. In the same year, Brabantia also acquired the Eerste Groninger Apparaten- en Metaalwarenfabriek (EGAM) in Roden. Further expansion followed with the establishment of sales organizations in France (1966), the United Kingdom (1973), and Switzerland (1975).

Throughout its long history, Brabantia has had various names. At its founding in 1919, it was known as "Van Elderen & Co." Over time, the name was changed to "Van Elderen's Metaalwarenfabrieken Brabantia." Around 1941, the first part of the name was dropped, leaving the company simply as "Brabantia." The word "Brabantia" is derived from the Latin word for Brabant.

Brabantia remains a family-owned business to this day, proud of its heritage. With a deep-rooted belief in honest products crafted by people passionate about quality, Brabantia has always focused on sustainability and creating products designed for everyday life.
