FAAM has a rich history dating back to the end of the 19th century.
The company was founded in 1894 by Louis Dobbelmann in Rotterdam and started as a small family business producing tobacco and cigars. At that time there were no machines to process tobacco, so everything had to be done by hand. Production was therefore still relatively small-scale.
In 1928, FAAM was acquired by British American Tobacco (BAT), one of the largest tobacco companies in the world. Under the wings of BAT, production of FAAM was scaled up considerably and the brand grew into an important player in the Dutch tobacco market.
In 1999, FAAM was taken over by Japan Tobacco International (JTI), which at that time already had several other well-known tobacco brands in its portfolio, including Camel, Winston and Silk Cut. Since then, FAAM has been part of JTI and the brand is still produced in Rotterdam.
Despite the changes in the tobacco industry and the decrease in the number of smokers, FAAM still remains a well-known brand in the Netherlands. The tobacco has a loyal following of fans who love its light, mild flavour and fragrant aromas.
