Description
Square plastic ashtray from the brand Roxy Dual. The ashtray is printed on all four sides with brand and logo. In the color combination white, red, gold. The ashtray is equipped with four slots placed in a diagonal line at the corners of the ashtray.

Roxy is a Dutch cigarette brand that was produced by the tobacco manufacturer Koninklijke Theodorus Niemeyer BV in Groningen; this company is now part of British American Tobacco.

The Roxy was specially developed as a cigarette with a lower tar and nicotine content. Although advertising for the cigarette avoided references to health, scientific publications on the consequences of smoking had led to the development of the cigarette. Consumers wanted safer smoking. In 1962, the Consumers' Association conducted a comparative study of the tar and nicotine content in various cigarettes, with Roxy having the lowest content. This increased Roxy's market share compared to the other cigarette brands.

John Kraaijkamp sr., among others, contributed to the Star advertisements for the product, which were still permitted for tobacco at the time.

In 1978, Johan Cruijff contributed to the advertising campaign "Johan Cruijff: Smoke wisely", in which he advertised the Roxy Dual filter cigarette: "But I think: if you smoke, you should smoke wisely". After complaints from Konsumenten Kontakt, among others, this campaign was promptly banned by the Advertising Code Committee.

The brand disappeared from the market in 2005, after a complete ban on cigarette advertising was introduced in 2003.
