Description
Rectangular long narrow wooden biscuit or gingerbread boards with a figure carved from the wood. These were often used as wall decoration in the 60s and 70s. This so-called biscuit board is used for making gingerbread. The name has changed over time to gingerbread shelf.
Before using the cookie board, always lubricate it with some oil, this ensures that the gingerbread comes off more easily. Knead your dough into a ball and press the dough into the shape, this is best done by going over it with the rolling pin.

A biscuit or gingerbread board is a rectangular shape with an image in it, with which biscuits could be produced. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, steel rollers were introduced, which made the production of cakes much easier. As a result, the cake boards fell out of use, although they are sometimes still used for folkloric events.
Nowadays, the gingerbread shelf can be found in abundance again, including at flea markets, for example. However, always make sure that it is a cookie board that is suitable for making gingerbread. Precisely because it is such an old object, gingerbread boards are often used for decoration. There is often a layer of varnish or stain over it and that makes it unsuitable for use in the kitchen.
