Description
Synthetic / plastic shoe polish box from the Dutch brand CURVER from the early 1970s. The box has a hinged hinged lid with space for storing brushes, cloths, shoe polish and more... Marked on the top of the lid with 'Curver' and at the bottom with 'Curver made in Holland'.

Lid in dark brown with a ribbed pattern. Box in the color beige. Beautiful shoe polish box that also serves as a support.

Condition
This plastic shoe shine box from Curver is in a vintage condition with traces of use and age-related traces of wear. Photos are part of description.

Curver Benelux BV, known from the Curver brand, is originally a Dutch producer of household plastic articles. The company's products are sold by chain stores in Europe and beyond. Curver started in 1949 as a small family business and became one of the pioneers in the use of plastics in the manufacture of products for daily use. In 2015, the company is part of the largest producer of plastic items in Europe.

The brothers-in-law Pierre Curtius and Ad Verschuren start in May 1949 in Tilburg with the production of tubular glass for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. The company was named Curver, a contraction of the surnames of promoters. Three years later the company moved to nearby Rijen.

From 1954 Curver made the caps of their tubular glass from plastic. Many companies were skeptical about the use of plastic at the time. The solidity of traditional materials such as wood, metal and glass was pointed out. Because Curver was one of the first companies to have an eye for the possibilities of plastic, the company developed into a trendsetter in this area.
