Description
Porcelain decorative plate from the "Rustique" series made by Petrus Regout Maastricht. Made in Holland and marked on the back. Depiction in blue with horses, people and hay wagon. Cross over a bridge to the other side of the river.

Condition
This earthenware plate is in a vintage condition with normal traces of use and age-related traces of wear. No chips or breakage. Photos are part of the description.

Petrus Laurentius Regout, also known as Petrus Dominicus Laurentius Regout, Petrus I, Pieter, Pierre or Pie Regout, nicknamed "Mr. Pie" or "de pottekeuning" (Maastricht, 23 March 1801 – Meerssen, 18 February 1878), was a Dutch industrialist and politician. He is considered the paterfamilias of the Maastricht entrepreneurial family Regout and was the founder of the crystal, glass and pottery factory P. Regout & Co. / The Sphinx.

The factories of Regout, from 1899 N.V. De Sphinx v/h Petrus Regout & Co. became one of the largest crystal, glass and pottery producers in the world. Maastricht pottery by Petrus Regout & Co. and The Sphinx is nowadays a popular collector's item and is also part of museum collections, including Center Céramique, Bonnefantenmuseum and Museum aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht, Discovery Center Continium in Kerkrade, Keramiekmuseum Princessehof in Leeuwarden and Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
