Vintage infrared lamp of the well-known Dutch brand Philips, produced from 1966 to 1985. This is an Infraphil 3603 in good working condition.

Research has shown that infrared light effectively relieves muscle aches and pains caused by stiff joints.

The lamp is optimized for pain relief in areas of 20 x 30 cm, such as a shoulder, an elbow, a calf or the neck. This copy comes with the manual and in the original box.

Philips, early years
In 1891 Gerard Philips founded the company Philips & Co together with his father Frederik Philips. The company was not located in their hometown Zaltbommel, but in Eindhoven. Empty business premises were available in this location. The first products were light bulbs, of which the Eerste Gloeilampenfabriek still attests. This is now a museum.

Originally, Philips was a simple assembly plant for carbon filament lamps. Gerard Philips was particularly interested in research and laid the foundation for the Philips' Physics Laboratory (NatLab), the successor of which, the High Tech Campus, is still located in Eindhoven.

With the arrival of Gerard's brother Anton Philips, in 1895, the management of the company was supplemented by a businessman who was able to grow the company. In 1899 Anton became a co-partner of the company. In 1907 the NV Philips 'Metaalgloeilampenfabriek in Eindhoven was founded, followed in 1912 by the foundation of NV Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken, of which Gerard and Anton Philips were the first directors.
