Arcopal, the historic brand of Arc International was introduced in 1958. This fully tempered glassware has become known over the years for being very strong and durable, break and chip resistant. Although very thin, Arcopal opal glass is five times stronger than porcelain.

Although ARC, or Cristallerie d'Arques, was born in 1825, it was not until 1958 that the technique of opal production was discovered and registered as a brand. Arcopal dinnerware was famous for its translucent opal borosilicate glass. In 1986, the Arcopal product ranges were included in the ranks of Luminarc and Arcoroc, among the product ranges made in Opal.

The Arcopal France tableware is microwave and dishwasher safe. Arcopal baking moulds are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. All over the world, the name Arcopal has become synonymous with opal! When we think of Arcopal, we think of strength, simplicity and ... childhood memories.

Arcopal is widely known for its milky white opal glassware and represents one of the first industrial revolutions in the glass industry! Arcopal glassware has been around for generations in a style that is both contemporary and timeless. The secret behind the success story? Almost 60 years of good feelings!

Arc International was founded in 1825 in the village of Arques in Northern France by Alexander des Lyons de Noircarm, who began producing large glass bottles known as "dame-jeanne", which were popular at the time. In the following years, the company diversified into consumer cooking and dining glassware. By the 1960s, the company had mastered the production process of glassware and other finer glassware products.

From 1897 the company was dominated by the Durand family, who eventually took over the company completely in 1926. To this day the family is still a one-man business. The company adopted a number of practices that enabled it to become one of Europe's leading mass-produced glass manufacturers. Examples include the use of tank furnaces (1933), the construction of modern glass presses (1947), the use of automatic blowing machines (1950), the use of industrial tempering (1963), and the automation of lead crystal production (1968).
